The Ladder Story

Ladder was created in partnership with global advertising firm BBH (part of Publicis Groupe) to help grow some of the startups they had invested in. Our founding team have worked in agencies and client-side, helping grow high-profile startups and improve efficiency at well-known enterprise companies. 

Traditional marketing agencies struggle to work with small, high-potential businesses. Their cost structure needs to account for sales and management overhead, and they're usually at their most effective when solving the growth problems that only large enterprises run into. Agencies usually specialise in one area (or have specialist departments) which doesn't work for startups who typically need to try several things quickly to find what works. This leaves startups under-served: typically they can't afford to pay the agencies minimum fee and even if they can, they only get the minimum level of resource.

We designed our approach from the ground up specifically to help startups with these issues. We work for one flat fee across all marketing channels (including product), focusing on finding and scaling activities that have the highest potential return. Our whole team work together to contribute fresh ideas for each client and because we work in London and New York we can deliver work overnight. We take the same data-driven, agile approach startups use to develop their products, and apply it to developing their marketing campaigns.
